Send proposal for probe: Jung to Kejriwal

Lt Governor Najeeb Jung said Thursday that he has asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to send him a proposal if he wants a probe into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
"Arvind met me and expressed the wish for a SIT probe into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. So I have told him to sent me a proposal for the same," Jung told the media.
Earlier Thursday, Kejriwal confirmed his meeting with the Lt Governor and said: "Sometime next week we will put forward the suggestion to the cabinet and if passed then the proposal would be sent to the LG."
The AAP government said the demand for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe was a part of their election manifesto. Anti-Sikh violence ensued in New Delhi and elsewhere after then prime minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her Sikh bodyguards Oct 31, 1984.
More than 3,000 people, mostly Sikhs, were killed in the vicious riots.
