Jammu, Nov 29: At least six border troopers, including a Deputy Inspector General, were injured in a gunfight with a group of infiltrators from Pakistan near the International Border in Jammu on Tuesday, the state police said.
Six men from the Border Security Force were injured when an ammunition dump caught fire and exploded during the gunfight.The deaths are part of the numbers of casulties from the terror attacks in Samba and Nagrota.
The six severely wounded troopers included DIG B.S. Kasana and Special Operation Group Inspector Sarabjit Singh, a police officer said.
The gunfight raged on in Samba, some 40 km south of here, after the infiltrators attacked a BSF post near the International Border. Two militants have been killed in the shootout that was still under way.
The twin attacks in Jammu have come at a time when India and Pakistan are dealing with a very tense border situation, especially with change of guard in Pakistan, India will have to be very cautious. While the Nagrota ops are still on the operations in Samba it finished by noon today.
