According to sources, IAS officer turned politician Shah Faesal was arrested while attempting to leave India. He was returned to Srinagar and held under house arrest.

Faesal joins the list of other top Cashmiri leaders, including Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, who were arrested following the government's decision to end Jammu and Kashmir's unique status by repealing Article 370. To date, Faesal used social media to deliver Srinagar ground report. After leaving services, IAS topper Faesal formed Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement.
