Six skyways, several flyovers planned for Hyderabad

Telangana government plans to build five or six integrated skyways with multiple levels of flyovers in Hyderabad and improve the existing roads at a cost of Rs.25,000 crore to Rs.30,000 crore.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao Saturday said the face of Hyderabad would be changed within the next two years.
He asked LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd., the consulting engineers and planners, to prepare strategies to be adopted to ease traffic congestion in city.
He also told them to come out with a plan as to where elevated high ways could be built.
KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, held a meeting with LEA Associates Chairman John Farrow, Managing Director M. Phani Raju and senior consultant T.S. Reddy.
The chief minister said all roads leading to different districts from Hyderabad should be made free from traffic congestion.
KCR said super highways could be built in Hyderabad on the lines of Bangkok.
He asked the LEA Consultants to first identify the high-density corridors and come out with a plan.
Stating that several national and international companies are coming forward to invest in Hyderabad, he said the immediate focus for development of roads should be the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area and ultimately Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Area (HMDA) area.
KCR mooted the idea of another airport in the northern part of Hyderabad to cater to North Telangana districts and almost 50 percent of the city's population.
