An army soldier was on Wednesday found dead in his unit camp near the LoC in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence official said.

"Mohammad Pathan Sharif Khan, of the 18th Cavalry, was found dead in his unit line in the general area Akhnoor, near the Line of Control," army spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told media persons.

Sharif Khan was a resident of Ahmedabad.

The army has ordered a court of inquiry in the case, added Mehta.
