Soldier, two militants gunned down in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 25:A jawan of 13 RR was martyred and two terrorists were killed in an early morning encounter in Bandipora district. The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian army and the Special Operations group SOG of the JK Police. 

In a statement released to the press the police stated that the operation was carried out at the first light of the dawn and once the terrorists were surrounded by the forces they opened indiscriminate firing resulting in the casualty of one jawan in Manzipora village in Bandipora. While the firing has ceased for now combing operations in the area are still on.   
 
"With the break of dawn, the flushing out operation was started when the hiding militants opened indiscriminate fire causing critical injuries to a soldier, who later succumbed," a senior police officer said.

 
In a separate operation in Tujjar village of Baramulla district, security forces surrounded a house where a local militant was hiding"After persuasion, the militant surrendered before the security forces. A pistol has been recovered from him," the police said.
