The Interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi raised the Tricolor in New Delhi's party headquarters on Thursday. Gandhi quoted India's founding values as ' Truth, No – Violence, Compassion, and Unwavering Patriotism, ' addressing party members. Welcoming party members to stand up against all acts of injustice, intolerance and discrimination, Gandhi said that a 73-year-old democratic and resilient India has no room for bigotry, superstition, sectarianism, fanaticism, racialism, intolerance or injustice, yet millions of fellow people face discrimination on a daily basis.Gandhi said in a statement issued by the party, "Reminding the nation that our independence was the consequence of the immense sacrifices of those who made India what it is today."
