Stripped for travelling in first class!

In a brazen manifestation of official haughtiness, an aged woman who mistakenly boarded the first class compartment of a suburban train despite having a second class ticket on Saturday was reportedly strip-searched by the government railway police in Mumbai.

65-year-old Satyabhana Mullick was travelling from Andheri to Virar mistakenly in a first class compartment to meet her daughter there on Saturday, when a ticket checker asked her to show her ticket.  After finding she was travelling in a wrong compartment, he allegedly demanded money from her. When she tried to give reason he called the police and they took her to GRP office where women constable allegedly did a strip search on her.

Airing her disgust, the victim’s daughter has demanded stringent action against the accused.

Meanwhile, the Western Railway has ordered a probe to ascertain facts, the railway sources said.
