Suburban Mumbai:  380 candidates in fray

Election commission received 642 nominations from 504 candidates from suburban Mumbai for the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections 2014 on October 15.

76 nomination forms were declared invalid by the election commission after scrutiny and with the withdrawal of 48 candidates at the withdrawal deadline of October 1 left 380 candidates in the fray from Mumbai suburban, stated the District election officer.

Suburban Mumbai has 77, 11,930 voters of which male constitutes 42, 64,851 while women 34, 76,943, and others 136.

There are 7346 centers in total; centers with more than 15 candidates per center will have additional Ballot unit, such as Bhandup W, Ghatkopar W, Mankhurd- Shivaji nagar, Kurla, Kalina, Bandra E, Dindoshi and Goregaon.

Distribution of voter slips will be completed by October 8, 2014.
