Supreme Court to hear pet

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear petitions on Friday raising legal obstacles to the decision of the Center to cancel Article 370 clauses abrogating Jammu and Kashmir's unique status and subsequent measures restricting media  work in the region. A special bench, comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices S A Bobde and S A Nazeer, will hear the petitions filed by advocate M L Sharma and Executive Editor, Kashmir Times, Anuradha Bhasin. Sharma had filed the petition on August 6, a day after the Centre had abrogated the Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. In his plea, the advocate asserted that the presidential order on Article 370 was illegal since it was adopted without the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly's approval.
