T2 to get auto rickshaw plaza
International fliers will now get the much needed relief from auto rickshaw woes at the new T2 terminal at international airport. T2 terminal will now get an integrated autorickshaw plaza – a first for the airport.

The under-construction auto plaza has a 150m auto shed, which can accommodate 50 movements at a time — both pick-up and drop. This auto plaza will be exclusively manned 24×7 by over 350 marshals, and 90 per cent of them have already undergone specialised training.

The plaza, being built next to the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) area, already has two elevators, which take the passenger directly to Level 10 where the departure terminals are located. Says Dipesh Shetty, a international flier, “Getting a auto from the new T2 terminal is a nighmare, I hope this auto plaza solves the problem.”  Apart from this, a restroom and waiting area is also being built, and water dispensers are being provided. "The aim is also to ensure that auto drivers are comfortable while operating from this plaza, so appropriate infrastructure is also a priority," sources at T2 added. The plan also includes a 24×7 ambulance service at the plaza, with one doctor and paramedic each. This auto plaza will also accommodate services of shared autos between T2 and Andheri.
