TCS bags multi-year deal from Scandinavian Airlines

India's leading IT bellwether Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) bagged a multi-year, multi-million contract from Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to improve the carrier's competitiveness with cloud-based solutions.
"We have been selected by Scandinavia's leading airline (SAS) to help transform and optimise its IT processes, applications and infrastructure," the global software major said in a statement Tuesday.
The five-year deal will also enable the airline to use TCS' aviation and digital innovation labs to develop solutions for its digital consumers.
"As a strategic partner, we will address the new paradigm in the aviation industry, which is characterised by competition and demanding customers who are going digital," TCS' North Europe head Amit Bajaj said in the statement.
With similar multi-year, multi-million dollar deals from TDC in Denmark, Posten in Norway, Nokia in Finland and SAS in Sweden, the company has emerged as a partner of choice for Nordic firms to reinvent in the digital age.
"The partnership with TCS will enable us to achieve significant goals and strengthen our long-term competitiveness with the new digital solutions to drive growth," said SAS chief information officer Hans-Petter Aanby.
The $11.6-billion TCS has invested in the Nordic region over the last two decades to service its clients with 5,500 software engineers working across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
As Northern Europe's leading airline, SAS operates daily 1,100 flights to 136 destinations in Europe, Asia and the US, offering a wide range of travel solutions with punctuality.
