Technical snag hits monorail

As the Mumbaikars faced hardships with the BEST bus strike, the Mumbai Monorail underwent its first technical snag on Wednesday morning, disrupting its services for a while. Due to this it took 40 minutes to reach Wadala depot, nearly twice the time to reach there.
“The trains were appallingly slow and halted between stations. A test train was run during peak hour. It’s hardly two months since the launch. How will they handle the Mumbai rains?” said Manmohan Singh, a commuter.
Though, the MMRDA officials were at their denials best. Repudiating the reported glitches, Mumbai Monorail officials said there were issues with the signalling system and that trains had to be operated with manual controllers. However, the MMRDA metropolitan commissioner UPS Madan confirmed that there was a problem, and that it was resolved.
