Major airports across India have been put on high alert following the warning of a terror attack. There is a threat of either a bomb explosion or a possible suicide attack.
As per intelligence sources, an anonymous threat letter was received which warned of the attacks.
The threat letter was received by the director of the Airports Authority of India. It warned that the Friday night flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and early Saturday morning flight from Mumbai to Kochi will be targeted.
Airport Director A K C Nair told mediapersons that they received information from Kolkata that there is a threat to the AI flight on the Mumbai-Kochi sector on October 25 and Ahmedabad-Mumbai sector on Friday night. "There was a threat of bomb attack or bomb suicide attack," he said.
Authorities are not sparing any chance and security has been beefed up at all major Airports across India.
A bomb disposal squad and an anti-hacking unit were this morning deployed at the Kochi airport.
Similar emergency mechanisms have also been activated at other airports. The authorities are on a high vigil and interacting with the intelligence agencies for tracking down of the mastermind.
