Thane: Man kills brother over money

Blood is thicker than water? No, the old adage no longer prevails. Every other day we bump into incidents of bloodletting among siblings as the one happened in the vicinity of Mumbai – Thane. Here a 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed allegedly by his own younger brother following an argument over money in Vankaspada area in Thane district, police sources informed.

The culprit Manoj Dumada, 23, was held for killing his brother Subhash Dumada, police stated.

According to sources, the duo were staying with their father in Vankaspada village. His father and Subhash would often argue as the latter frequently demanded money from him.

On Thursday night Subhash once again demanded money from his father, which broke out into an argument between the two. His father then informed Manoj about the issue. The siblings then had a tiff and in a fit of anger Manoj hit Subhash on his head with a wooden log, police said.

Manoj was produced before the local magistrate today and was sent to police custody till May 15. He has been charged under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
