The Asthika Samaj, a distinguished institution in Matunga, Mumbai, with a rich 102-year history of fostering spirituality and devotion, is pleased to announce the grand observance of the Ashtabhandhana Mahakumbhabhishekam at its temple. This significant event is scheduled from January 27 to February 2, 2025, representing a momentous occasion in the temple’s history.
The Mahakumbhabhishekam will honour Lord Sri Ganapathy, Lord Sri Shiva, Lord Sri Subramania, and the Navagraha Devatas, expecting the attendance of thousands of devotees from across the nation and beyond. This Vedic ritual, held every 12 years, holds profound spiritual importance, symbolizing the reconsecration of the temple’s deities and the sanctification of its Gopuram (tower), thereby rejuvenating the temple’s spiritual ambience.
The ceremony will be conducted under the guidance of Sarvasadhakam Sivagamarathnam, Sivagamakalanidhi, and Shivarasi R. Selvam Bhattar (also known as Kalyanasundarasivacharyar), along with 50 dedicated disciples, ensuring that all rituals are performed with deep reverence and strict adherence to Vedic traditions.
The week-long celebration will include the following activities:
1. *Homam (Fire Rituals)*: Conducted by esteemed Vedic scholars, these rituals will seek divine blessings for global peace and prosperity.
2. *Poojas*: Daily worship services dedicated to the presiding deities.
3. *Annadanam (Food Distribution)*: Complimentary prasadam (sanctified food) will be offered to thousands of devotees, reflecting the spirit of divine service and community welfare.
