Thieves rape maid in Delhi

A maid was Wednesday raped and beaten up by two men when she resisted their theft bid in her employer's home, police said.
"The victim belonging to Assam was raped by two thieves in the Hari Nagar area of west Delhi Wednesday afternoon," said a police officer. The maid, 19, was alone when three thieves entered the house.
Seeing them, she started shouting. One of the thieves then pointed a knife while two others raped her. They then took valuables valued Rs.50,000 and fled from the scene.
Police said the victim later told her employer about the assault and theft.
"We received a call around 4 p.m. The medical examination is being conducted on her and the statement of the victim is yet to be taken," said police officer Ranvir Singh.
