Tihar jail overcrowded, shows report
 Over 13,000 prisoners, more than the sanctioned capacity of 6,250, are lodged in the Tihar Central Jail here, an official said Thursday. Jail officials said a total of 13,552 prisoners were lodged in the Tihar Jail. 
 
 While the number of male prisoners was 12,937, female prisoners were only 615, according to the annual review data. "A total of 10,154 prisoners were undertrials while only 3,388 were convicted prisoners," said Director General of Prisons Vimlaa Mehra.  A total of 366 prisoners were foreigners.
