Torrential rain hits Mumbai, Konkan

Heavy rains with torrential wind lash Mumbai and coastal Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra since Tuesday morning, throwing life out of gear.

In Mumbai, the local trains were running behind schedule since morning as water flooded tracks at several low lying areas of Main as well as harbor lines of Central Railways. However, during afternoon the heavy showers turn to drizzle and the suburban trains resumed their normal services.

The met department has issued an alert to the people living in the coastal areas, sensing a flood like situation there due to heavy rains. High alert has been sounded in Sindhudurg district due to very heavy down pour there. The district has experienced 130 mmof rains in the past 24 hours.
