Tripura CM Biplab Deb said that he regretted his comment on former Miss World Diana Hayden after the Tripura CM had questioned Diana's potential to win the Miss World title.

He said that he meant no disrespect to women.

He had  dubbed the world beauty competitions as "underground activities" and expressed disbelief as to how Diana bagged the title two decades back while addressing a public function.

"It is quite understandable how Aishwarya Rai got the prize. She represented Indian ladies. But can't understand the beauty of Diana Hayden", CM said.

The Tripura CM  said that it was the plan executed by fashion industries as part of their underground activities to grab the Indian markets and in turn awarded five world beauty titles for India.
