US announces $250,000 aid for flood-hit Jammu & Kashmir
US Ambassador to India Kathleen Stephens Tuesday announced an aid of $250,000 for relief and rehabilitation work in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir.

"The US intends to provide $250,000 in response to the needs of the people affected by the disaster through the US Agency for International Development," a statement by the American embassy said.

The funds will be given to select NGO's like Save the Children India, Care India, and Plan India who will use them to provide "emergency relief, temporary shelter and non-food relief supplies to the thousands of affected families in remote villages".

Reiterating the US's commitment to help those affected by the floods, Stephens extended her "deepest sympathies" to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
