In what may be termed as a confidence building measure, the Mumbai city district collector and election in charge of the metropolis, Shaila A, has asked the electorates to cast their franchise without any fear or favour.

Speaking to the Media Eye correspondent, she said, citizens must ensure their names are present in voters list before entering the polling centers. People can check their names in websites of Election commission, and CEO portal of Mumbai elections.

Awareness campaigns are being held at various venues, be it in a five star hotel like Taj or any by lanes or corners of the metropolis.

Organizing various street plays, interaction with women’s group by way of various events and campaigns involving teachers and students whereby reaching people in high-rises to small chawls and shanties, putting up of hoardings etc are all meant to create awareness among voters regarding their right to vote.

The citizens are responding with great zeal to the awareness drive undertaken by the commission.

Implementation of SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) literally conveys people whose names are enrolled in the voters list the message to come out to cast their votes.
