It’s a well-known saying; anything auspicious you do after Holi has fruitful results. Controversial Mumbai University Vice Chancellor Rajan Welukar will resume office from today, after Maharashtra governor Vidyasagar Rao revoked his order asking Welukar to abstain from discharging his duties.
The governor who is officially the chancellor of state universities, cited the Supreme Court's order on February 27, staying two Bombay High Court orders directing reconsideration of Welukar's eligibility by a search committee.
According to, AD Sawant, one of the petitioners in the case against Welukar, said, "No academician expected that the chancellor would revoke his order. He should have waited till the petition was disposed in the Supreme Court. Welukar must come clean on those High Court orders, which endorsed that his selection was wrong. "
