Will quit politics if charges proven: Rajnath

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday pledged to "quit politics and stay at home" if any allegation against his family was proved.

"If any allegations against me or any of my family are proved, then I will quit politics and stay at home," Rajnath Singh told reporters here.

He was reacting to reports which said he was upset over media reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn't want his son to be fielded in by-elections due to his (son's) reported unsavoury conduct.

Rajnath Singh said he had spoken to both Modi and BJP president Amit Shah and "both were surprised" over the published reports and called it "baseless".

The Bharatiya Janata Party didn't give a ticket to Rajnath Singh's son Pankaj Singh who was seen as a frontrunner for an assembly by-election in Noida.
