Yashwant Sinha quits BJP

Former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha announced that he is quitting the BJP and will move away from politics in future. He blamed the party and the NDA for undermining the democracy of the country.

Sinha had handled the external affairs and finance portfolios in the AB Vajpayee government from 1998 to 2004.

Yashwant Sinha, in an event in Patna, said that he is taking a 'sanyas' from any kind of party politics and ending all ties with the BJP. He added that he will launch a nationwide protest to strengthen the democracy of the country.

Yashwant Sinha had started revolting with the BJP since the Narendra Modi government took charge in the centre from 2014 as he and some other senior leaders including L K Advani were marginalised in the party.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley and Sinha had confronted each other few months back and Jaitley deemed Sinha a "job seeker at the age of 80". However Sinha cleared that he is not an aspirant for any post and is not at all interested to seek any post.
