A controversial book on Delhi riots titled “Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story” by Monika Arora, Sonali Chitalkar and Prerna Malhotra which was cancelled by Bloomsbury India under pressure is finding immense takers. Garuda Prakashan which announced that it would publish the book is already receiving immense orders.

A spokesperson of Garuda Prakashan told media that they are getting encouraging responses to the book through WhatsApp, email and phones. Interestingly the publishing house has also got in touch with former IAS officer Sanjay Dixit who terminated his contract with Bloomsbury for his upcoming book Nullifying Article 370 and Enacting CAA, which was scheduled to be released later this year.

Garuda Prakashan is in touch with more authors who are willing to work with them.

The book came into controversy following its online launch wherein one of the invitees was Kapil Mishra whose provocative speeches had allegedly triggered riots in north-east Delhi. BJP general secretary Bhupender Yadav, OpIndia editor Nupur Sharma and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri were also invited for the launch.

Bloomsbury India had planned to launch the book in September this year, and following the response to the online launch, it decided to withdraw the book. In a statement to the media, it said: “Bloomsbury India strongly supports freedom of speech but also has a deep sense of responsibility towards society.” The publisher also stated that it wasn’t a part of the online launch which was done by the authors themselves.
