New Delhi: A protest march held by students of Jamia Millia Islamia in South Delhi against the Citizenship Law ended in violence this evening, making the posh New Friends Colony a war zone. Three buses were set ablaze, batons and teargas were used and the police were seen chasing protesters through the streets. Two firemen and one police officer were wounded and the riots destroyed one fire engine. Metro operations — Jamia Millia Islamia University is on the Magenta Line of the city — have been affected, with the entrance and exit gates of Sukhdev Vihar Station, Jamia Millia Islamia, Okhla Vihar and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Ashram Station Gate No.3, closed.
