The detention term of National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has been extended by the Public Safety Act (PSA) for another three months. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir currently resides at his Srinagar residence, which was declared a sub-jail after his detention on 5 August. Farooq Abdullah was put under house arrest after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5. On the same day, many opposition leaders were detained by the government to avoid mass agitation against the decision that revoked Jammu & Kashmir's special status and split it into two union territories.
