New Delhi: At this evening at Lalgola railway station in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, five empty trains were set on fire as protesters continued to block roads and disrupt rail services in various parts of the state under the amended Citizenship Act protest. In Assam where two people were killed in police firing after thousands descended on the streets in defiance of a curfew. Nevertheless, the situation in the northeastern states remained largely calm, with restrictions being briefly eased in sensitive areas. This morning, hundreds of people blocked roads in and around Howrah's Sankrail railway station and set fire to a portion of a complex in railway station.

They reached the station complex in the afternoon and set fire to the ticket counter. They were beaten when RPF and railway staff tried to stop them, "an official of the Railway Protection Force said.
