Facebook has stiffened its policies on employee communication within workplace platform, the company’s internal social work. With US Presidential elections coming up it has banned political images as profile pictures.

The social media giant wants to curb employees promoting political candidates or experiencing solidarity with causes such as Black Lives matter, as reported by Wall Street Journal.

Facebook spokesman Joe Osborne told media, “What we have heard from our employees is that they want the option to join debates on social and political issues rather than see them unexpectedly in their work feed.”

Facebook will censure insensitive, derogatory or degrading communication which can increase hostility at work, reported CNBC. The company said that it will increase support for moderation of non-official workplace groups.
