Bihar Assembly Election: Counting Begins, Results to be Declared Today

New Delhi: The counting of votes for the Assembly elections is scheduled to start on Friday, marking an important day in Bihar. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is prepared to provide a seamless and reliable counting process throughout the state, thanks to comprehensive plans and stringent procedures to guarantee transparency.

Each one of the state’s 243 Assembly constituencies will be counted.  In the presence of candidates and their authorised representatives, 243 Returning Officers (ROs) and 243 Counting Observers will supervise the procedure, according to officials.

A counting supervisor, helper, and micro-observer are stationed at each of the 4,372 counting tables that have been put up.

The counting procedure will be overseen by more than 18,000 counting agents chosen by candidates to guarantee impartiality and openness.

Postal ballots will be counted first at 8:00 a.m., followed by the electronic voting machines (EVMs) at 8:30 a.m.

Before the penultimate round of EVM counting, postal ballots must be counted under the ECI’s directive.

Control Units will be provided to the counting agents during the EVM counting procedure to confirm that the seals are unbroken and that the serial numbers match those listed in Form 17C (Part I).

VVPAT slips from the relevant polling place will be required to be counted if there is a disparity between the number of votes registered in the EVMs and Form 17C inputs.

Five voting places per constituency will be chosen at random for VVPAT verification following the conclusion of EVM counting.

The slips and the EVM results will be compared while the candidates and their counting agents are present.

The corresponding ROs will compile and release the final results by constituency and round.

The ECI’s results portal, https://results.eci.gov.in, will host the official results.

The Commission has cautioned against false information from unofficial sources and recommended that the public and media rely solely on the official ECI portal for accurate and verified updates.

Digital media outlets and TV networks have also been advised to make sure their information is accurate.
