New Delhi: It is vital to hold elections for most congress leadership positions, including the membership of the working committee, said senior leader Shashi Tharoor, confident that the party will function towards that end quickly under interim president Sonia Gandhi. The party has gone to appoint Gandhi as interim president for its most competent choice, he said. She is someone who not only has the experience of guiding the party in similar difficult circumstances before, but also a leader with "demonstrated ability to keep various segments and voices together within the Congress, which is crucial considering the present scenario in which we find ourselves," Tharoor said.  I hope that elections will take place quickly and I am confident that the party will work towards that end quickly under Mrs. Gandhi's leadership, "Tharoor said.
