JDU Can t Use Arrow Symbo

Janata Dal United, the party of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, can not use its arrow symbol to contest elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra as it is comparable to the bow and arrow symbol of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Shiv Sena, the Election Commission said. The recent order from the Election Commission emerges as a psychological victory for Jharkhand's primary opposition party JMM as Bihar's governing JDU succeeded in blocking the Jharkhand party and Maharashtra's Shiv Sena from using their symbols in Bihar during the April and May national elections. The election body had permitted JDU to contest Jharkhand elections using its symbol, but it withdrew that license now after JMM approached the Election Commission, stating comparable symbols could confuse voters. However, the ban on the use of their symbols in Bihar on both JMM and Shiv Sena has not been repealed-meaning it is a status quo for all sides for now.
