Tamil Nadu, Dec 24: Despite the majority of AIADMK urging Sashikala to take over the party reigns formally Sashikala the new power magnet in the Tamil Nadu politics is not yet keen to take over as the General secretary of the party in post Jayalalitha era.

The AIADMK general council is scheduled to meet on December 29 but despite the party call to take over Sashikala has not given any inputs regarding the matter yet. On Friday secretaries of 50 districts met at the party headquarters to discuss the general council meeting and the key issue of leadership tradition. 

“AIADMK has decided that Chinaamma (Shashikala) should be the general secretary and this was duly discussed by all the secretaries too, but the final decision will be left to her to be decided. As of now she has not given the slightest indication that she will take over but it is our request that she does”, stated a party member when commenting on power transition to the media. 

The one only hitch in the matter comes in the form of expelled AIADMK member Sashikala Pushpa’s civil suit challenging the proposed move of the general council to amend its by laws to elect Sashikala as its new general secretary. One judge has reserved his decision after hearing the arguments and orders are expected to out soon.
