PM Modi Highlights Kerala’s Youngest Organ Donor and Indian-Origin Cricketers Abroad in Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi: In his latest Mann Ki Baat, PM Narendra Modi remembered 10-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham, Kerala’s youngest organ donor, whose parents’ selfless act saved four lives. The PM also praised Indian-origin cricketers making India proud in foreign teams during the ongoing T20 World Cup.

In the 131st episode of his monthly radio programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought out inspiring stories of courage, talent, and Indian values.

The Prime Minister remembered a poignant story from Kerala, of 10-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham, the state’s youngest organ donor. Following a tragic accident in Pathanamthitta, Aalin was declared brain dead on February 12. Despite their grief, her parents, Arun and Sherin Abraham, chose to donate her organs, giving four other children a renewed chance at life. Her kidneys, liver, and heart valves were transplanted across hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram, showcasing the efficiency of the state’s transplant network.

PM Modi lauded the family’s courage, saying, “The pain they must be going through cannot be expressed in words. Even amidst deep sorrow, their decision has filled every Indian’s heart with immense respect.” Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that a proposed state organ transplant unit would be named after Aalin, and a state funeral was accorded to honour her.

Further, the prime minister praised Indian-origin cricketers representing foreign teams such as Canada, the USA, Oman, New Zealand, the UAE, and Italy**, emphasising the significance of Bhartiyata. He noted that even when playing for other countries, these players remain connected to their roots in their matrabhoomi (motherland) while contributing to their karmabhoomi (place of duty). Among those he mentioned were Canada’s captain Dilpreet Bajwa, Naveneet Dhaliwal, Harsh Thaker, Shreyas Movva, and the USA’s Monank Patel, Saurabh, Harmeet Singh, and Milind Kumar. “Many such Indian-origin players are bringing pride to their countries and becoming an inspiration for youth globally,” PM Modi said.

Highlighting both stories, PM Modi underscored the speciality of Bhartiyata—the ability to stay rooted to India while excelling and inspiring others globally.
