Airlines announce discounted fares to attract flyers

A day after budget passenger carrier SpiceJet announced its special fare offer, full service airline Jet Airways launched its promotional scheme by discounting 35 percent on base fare on select flights within India and abroad.
The airline's domestic offer is valid for one-way journey in economy class on flights operated by Jet Airways. The offer is for bookings till March 3, for travel period between March 11 and April 9, next.
The offer on the international sector is valid on premier and economy class bookings for which can be made between Feb 25 and March 3 next.
"Travel must commence on or before Dec 12, 2015. Return tickets are valid for three months from the date of commencement of journey. Discount is applicable on select booking classes," the airline said.
On Tuesday, cash-strapped budget passenger carrier SpiceJet launched its Holi promotional scheme 'colour the skies' with domestic fares starting at Rs.1,699 all inclusive.
The airline's promotional scheme is also valid for international bookings starting at Rs.3,799 for Delhi to Kathmandu.
According to SpiceJet, under the latest offer, tickets on routes like Hyderabad to Vijayawada, Delhi to Dehradun, Guwahati to Kolkata, Ahmedabad to Mumbai and Bengaluru to Hyderabad can be booked at Rs.1,699.
Delhi to Kathmandu flights can be booked at Rs.3,799, with discounted fares also available on most other international routes.
The company said that a total of 100,000 seats are available on sale.
According to industry analysts, other airlines may follow suite to fill up seats during the lean season.
