Former South Africa cricketer and current Mumbai Indians fielding coach Jonty Rhodes and wife Melanie have named their new born baby girl India.
The couple were blessed with a baby daughter on Thursday. The couple named the baby India Jeanne Rhodes.
Dr. Bhupendra Avasthi of Surya Mother and Child Care hospital at Santa Cruz (West) here, the attending doctor, said the couple is very extremely happy and both mother and baby are doing well.
"The baby is doing well. It is a normal baby weighing 3.7 kilogram. She is a big baby. It was a natural water birth. They named the baby India," Dr. Avasthi told IANS on Saturday.
The doctor said the couple wanted to have the baby in India citing better facilities than South Africa and Jonty was very happy how things went.
"They decided to come to India and have the baby because they felt facilities here are much better than what they have in South Africa. Also they like the culture in India. They were very extremely happy. They like the country and how everything went," the doctor said.
The doctor said water babies are not so popular in India, but they are popular in United Kingdom and the United States.
"Water babies are not so popular in India, but are in UK and USA. Their baby is quite good. His wife were admitted on Thursday and they were discharged on Friday. They were here for hardly 26 hours. The mother is also doing very well," Dr. Avasthi said.
Even the happy father, Jonty tweeted on Thursday ahead of Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils match, "@mipaltan good luck tonight from baby Rhodes!! India Jeanne Rhodes born 3:29pm weighing 3.7kg! Mum and baby perfect #ApunKaSuperstars."
