Toyota management asked to mend fences with union by Karnataka government
Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Saturday informed that the Karnataka government has directed its management to patch up their differences with workers union to restore normalcy in operations, seeking to stop an over month long standoff between them.

"The administration, in its bid to preserve industrial calm, has issued a directive asking it and the union to restore normalcy in operations without delay," the company informed in a statement issued in Bangalore on Saturday.

"All relevant issues between the warring parties have been referred for arbitration," it divulged. "We thank all our stakeholders for their support and understanding during this difficult period." The world’s ace car manufacturer’s operations have been suffered ever since the workers union demanded a wage hike of Rs. 4,000 as against Rs. 3,050 proposed by the management.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp of Japan, had on March 16 stated a shutdown of its manufacturing plants at Bidadi near Bangalore, after talks between the management and union over wage negotiations failed.

Though, the lockout was lifted on March 24, workers have not joined duty as they objected  to signing a good conduct undertaking as demanded by the company and pressed for withdrawal of suspension orders.
