Mumbai: During the immersion of Ganesh idols across Maharashtra, at least 18 people drowned in distinct incidents, police said Friday. Immersions, which started on Thursday on Anant Chaturdashi, continued in several areas of Mumbai, Pune and Sangli until Friday evening, authorities said. Drowning incidents have been recorded in 11 districts including Amravati, Nashik, Thane, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Dhule, Bhandara, Nanded, Ahmednagar, Akola and Satara, adding that 18 people were killed in these districts.
