SHAHJAHANPUR: A law student in Uttar Pradesh who accused former union minister Chinmayanand of rape was arrested and imprisoned in an extortion case filed by politician today. Her family alleges that this morning, a day before a court took up her request for protection from arrest, the police arrived and dragged her out of her home.The 23-year-old, covered in her face, was taken before the arrest to a hospital for a routine medical exam. Her father claims to have been forced to sign a "memo" arrest, a document needed for police paperwork. A court denied her bail application.
