Mumbai: Maharashtra and Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat had an eventful week marked by key engagements across the state. He held his first interactive meeting with Vice Chancellors of 24 universities in Maharashtra, launched the Vigilance Awareness Week to promote integrity in public life, and presided over the Viksit Bharat Leadership Summit 2025 in Mumbai, highlighting his commitment to education, transparency and visionary leadership.
Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the ‘Integrity Pledge’ to Raj Bhavan staff on October 27 as part of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week.’ The staff pledged to avoid bribery and act transparently. The week, observed from October 27 to November 2, was directed by the Central Vigilance Commission under the theme ‘Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.’ Key officials, including Secretary Dr Prashant Narnaware and Deputy Secretary S. Ramamoorthy, were in attendance.
Interacting with Vice Chancellors of non-agricultural universities via video conference, the Governor emphasised that universities should provide skill-based education and nurture responsible citizens to achieve ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
The Governor expressed concern over declining university rankings and highlighted the importance of sports in youth development. He urged universities to maintain sports facilities effectively and shared that data must be reported to Raj Bhavan within three months.
Additionally, the Governor called for collaboration with the Women and Child Welfare Department to enhance skill development for female students and stressed the need for clean, transparent university administrations. He encouraged regular inspections of hostels for hygiene and directed that de-addiction workshops be organised to combat substance abuse.
To increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio, he advised universities to connect with schools and maintain strong alumni relations. Governor Devvrat also announced plans to visit universities in Maharashtra, similar to a cleanliness drive he led in Gujarat.
Moreover, Governor Acharya Devvrat chaired the Viksit Bharat Leadership Summit 2025 in Mumbai. He honoured individuals for their significant contributions to national development. The Summit focused on India’s progress toward the vision of Developed India 2047, led by Prime Minister Modi. Notable attendees included Dr Jagdeesh Chandra, Manoj Jagyasi, and Shashikant Sharma from Bharat 24.
