Maharashtra Floods 11 d

11 People were reported to have died as a result of incessant rainfall in the area following a boat capsized in Maharashtra's Sangli. The relief officials have retrieved nine bodies, while a search for the remainder is ongoing.

Earlier, due to the massive waterlogging and a flood-like situation due to heavy rainfall in the area, several villages in the Sangli district were cut off from the main road. With water entering their homes, people came to the primary street, carrying household products and livestock with them, waiting for the flood-like scenario that lasted four days. The area's security forces, along with marine rescue teams, initiated relief efforts on a war basis to evacuate individuals to safer locations.

For the rescue activities in Maharashtra, five National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were airlifted from Punjab, sources said on Thursday.
