Shimla, a 4-meter earthquake on the Richter scale struck the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh early Thursday, the weather office said here.

At 12.47 a.m., authorities said, the gentle earthquake was felt in Chamba. There have been no casualties reported so far. 

One of the distant districts of the state, Chamba is situated adjacent to Jammu and Kashmir.
