Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut warned ally BJP that he had "absolute control of power" in Maharashtra, despite winning far fewer seats in the assembly elections, compared to both the BJP and its own in 2014. "This time, the Sena won fewer seats-56 compared to 63 in 2014-but it has remote control of power. The dream of the Shiv Sena dragging behind the BJP is busting after results," wrote Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP, in his column for "Saamna," the party's publication. The Sena demanded written assurances from the BJP on Saturday in an unprecedented move that it would follow a "50:50" agreement negotiated between party chief Uddhav Thackeray and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP has yet to respond to the demand; its MLAs are to meet on October 30. According to party sources, Amit Shah will be in Mumbai on that date and could meet UdhavThackeray.
