Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Thursday a rise in the quota in government employment and state education for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Scheduled Castes (SCs).

At an Independence Day function in Raipur, Baghel made the announcement. These communities have been called upon to increase the quota in proportion to their state population.

Currently, the OBCs, SCs and STs get 12%, 14% and 32% reservation in educational institutions and government jobs in the state. The Chief Minister also announced an elephant reserve, to be developed in Lemru forest area of Korba district.
