Mumbai: To commemorate the first anniversary of the Prana Pratishta of Ram Lalla in Janmasthan Ayodhya on January 22, Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts Sabha, Mumbai, conducted a unique dance ballet by disabled performers of “Ability Unlimited” on Ramayana on Wheels. The show was a testament to the power of art and the human spirit.
This event, a celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage, showcased the diverse dance styles of Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Sufi, and Yogic poses, singing the glory of his divine life journey through seven stages of Bala, Ayodhya, Aranya, Kishkinda, Sundara, Yudha and Yutta kandas in several languages of the country.
‘Ramayana on Wheels’ is a diverse and dynamic saga of famed mythology in dance form, weaving various stories into classical Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Sufi, and Yogic poses.
The artists who performed, despite their various conditions, including polio, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, and autism, have shown incredible dedication and skill. Their performances have proven that wheels can indeed replace legs, with each move perfected to a level that challenges the belief that dancers with disabilities could not achieve such feats.
The dance ballet tells the timeless story of love, loyalty, heroic renunciation, fierce battles, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil. This historic production, performed by persons with disabilities, is a groundbreaking first. They hold a Guinness Book of Records and a Limca Record for creating 100 dance theatre productions and 10,000 performances across the world.
