Government of Madhya Pradesh has given a golden opportunity for farmers to avail benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) to ensure crop protection. Farmers can pay the crop insurance premium till August 31. State Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister, Shri Kamal Patel, has appealed farmers to avail this scheme at the earliest.
The government had extended the date for availing the scheme keeping in view the coronavirus pandemic. Madhya Pradesh has recorded a high number of over 60,000 corona positive cases. The state government stated that applications were sought from insurance companies by dividing the state into 11 clusters based on agro-climatic zones to provide benefits to the farmers.
The government has stated that farmers can file a complaint of crop failure within 72 hours at the local agriculture office or Crop Insurance App. They can also contact the helpline number 1800-180-1551. A government spokesperson told media that farmers have received a total payment of Rs. 60,000 crores within the three years of the beginning of this ambitious scheme.
