Mumbai: In a series of events, the Maharashtra and Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat launched the Mahaparinirvan Din brochure, presented the DAV Ratna Award to Anupam Kher, and was honoured by the DAV College Committee last week in Mumbai.
Poster launch in memory of Babasaheb Ambedkar
Governor Acharya Devvrat released a poster and information brochure containing instructions for the visitors to Chaityabhumi at a brief function held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, on Sunday (30 Nov). The poster and brochure have been prepared by the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Din Samanvay Samiti. It has been prepared for the benefit of lakhs of visitors coming to pay their respects to Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on the occasion of the 69th Mahaparinirvana Din.
Chairman of the Maharashtra State Three Language Committee, former MP Dr Narendra Jadhav, general secretary of the Samiti Nagsen Kamble and other members were present.
DAV Ratna Award for Anupam Kher
Renowned actor Anupam Kher, an alumnus of DAV Public School, Shimla, was today honoured with the DAV Ratna Award by Governor Acharya Devvrat.
At Raj Bhavan, distinguished alumni of the institution were felicitated by the governor on behalf of the DAV management committee. On this occasion, the Governor congratulated all the alumni and appreciated their contributions to the nation in various fields.
Anupam Kher shared that he studied from Class 1 to Class 11 at DAV Public School, Shimla. He said that the institution imparted to him Indian values and patriotic ideals and that DAV Public School holds a special place in his life. He recalled that in those days, teachers used to give strict punishment, but they also provided love and valuable guidance.
The event was attended by the governor’s wife, Darshana Devi, president of the DAV College managing committee, Poonam Suri, director of DAV, Dr Nisha Peshin, and other officials of the institution.
Felicitation
The Governor was also felicitated at a public felicitation function organised by DAV College Managing Committee on the occasion of his assuming the charge as the Governor of Maharashtra. The Governor is an alumnus of DAV and runs a Gurukul at Kurukshetra.
The programme was held at the Bhoomiputra D. B. Patil Auditorium in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai.
