Governor Attends 75th Anniversary Celebration of Sharadashram Vidyamandir

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan, in a significant gesture, graced the 75th Anniversary function of Sharadashram Vidyamandir School, Dadar, at Sri Shanmukananda Auditorium, Sion in Mumbai on Sunday. The event was organised by the Sharadashram Vidyamandir School Trust.

The Governor, in a heartwarming gesture, felicitated the meritorious students of class 10th and winners of various sports competitions. This recognition, in a representative manner, was a proud moment for the entire school community. Additionally, a special issue was published to mark the school’s 75th anniversary, further inspiring the students and the community.

The event was graced by the president of Sharadashram Vidyamandir School Trust, Dr Rajan Gupte, the Honorary Chairman of the Trust, P. B. Desai, the Secretary of Trust, Gajendra Shetty, Major General (Retd.) Nitin Gadkari, teachers, students, parents, alumni, and invitees. Their presence added a sense of community and involvement to the celebration.

In 1949, the late Baburao Parulekar built the Sharadashram Vidyamandir in Dadar, Mumbai.

Shardashram Vidyamandir emphasised cricket, and Sachin Tendulkar is its most famous student. His guru, Ramakant Achrekar, was the cricket coach there and regularly held summer camps. Apart from Tendulkar, the school produced cricketers such as Praveen Amre, Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar, Atul Ranade, Amol Muzumdar, and many other top-class cricketers in the latter half of the 1980s, operating from a modest structure on Dadar’s streets.
