The Vijay Diwas Ultra Marathon is scheduled from 6 December to 16 December 2024. Fifteen elite runners from the Indian Army have embarked on a 405 km expedition connecting Mumbai, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, and Pune.

The Ultra Marathon promises to be a grand spectacle, drawing spirited participation from Defence personnel, veterans, youth, and NCC cadets. The Army has organised a series of programmes, such as ‘Know your Army Mela’, a fun-filled event with interactive displays and activities, in Nashik, ‘Talk on Indian Army offering Equal opportunity to women’ at Ahilyanagar, and ‘Interaction with Veterans’ in Kolhapur.

Chief Of Staff, MG and G Area Maj. Gen Bikramdeep Singh and senior officers were present.

The 1971 India-Pakistan War (also known as the Third Indo-Pakistani War) was a 13-day military conflict between India and Pakistan. It is regarded as one of the shortest conflicts in history and a watershed moment in subcontinental geopolitics. It altered the world’s opinion of India and cemented its status as a major regional power. Vijay Diwas, observed annually on December 16th, commemorates India’s momentous victory in the 1971 war, which resulted in the formation of Bangladesh.
